The Punjab government is set to launch five new hybrid double-decker buses in Lahore, aimed at boosting tourism. Additionally, one bus each will be introduced in Bahawalpur and Rawalpindi, with services also starting in Multan and Faisalabad.

During the launch event, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz took a ride on one of the hybrid buses and received updates on the initiative from officials. The double-decker bus service, managed by the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP), first began in November 2015 under former Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. These buses cater to a wide range of passengers, including academics, diplomats, corporate representatives, and the general public, providing access to various tourist attractions.

In Lahore, the new bus routes will connect Qaddafi Stadium to several key sightseeing locations. Chief Minister Nawaz emphasized the commitment to providing modern, eco-friendly transportation options for tourism across Punjab.

Additionally, the Punjab government has launched a glass train project that will operate between Rawalpindi and Bhurban in the Murree region. A task force, consisting of 18 departments and led by the Punjab Transport Minister, has been established to oversee this project. The 65-kilometre railway will start in Saddar, Rawalpindi, passing through scenic areas like the Margalla Hills and Barakahu before reaching Bhurban.
